About Jamie Wood

We are Jamie and Joan Wood have lived in Campbell River for 35 years. We have 2 children and brought them up with a lot of outdoor activities. We love Campbell River as it has every thing to offer.

We love to ski, fish, play tennis, golf and hike. We have a place in the mountains called Moat Lake which is on a 13 acre island in the Strathacona park

Jamie Wood family property since 1946

Why Jamie Wood chose Campbell River

The house is a vintage house which was in the family since 1946. My grandparents lived in the home and were pioneers in Campbell River.

It has the original hardwood floors, rock fireplace insert, and beautiful ocean views from every window. You can lay in the master bedroom and look out on the ocean, There is lots of green space as we have a vacant lot next to the house. Lots of parking, for family functions, weddings, etc.

You can cast your fishing rod right in front of the house, and catch fish.

We have a fire pit on the beach, for a bon fire. You can see all kinds of birds, eagles, herons, seagulls. Eagles are nesting in a tree right on the property.

There is all kinds of sealife to watch from sealions to whales to porpoises.

What makes this house unique

Beautiful Sunrises and Sunsets. Fantastic Scenery and Wildlife viewing.

Walk on waterfront property, your own private beach. Lots of driftwood for those bonfires at night.

Guestbook comments

Jamie and Joan have updated their family heritage cottage to make it comfortable and cozy. We were greeted with a blazing fire and a nice bottle of wine on arrival. The cottage is spacious with comfortable seating, and beds and is well equiped. We appreciated the added touches of candles and nice soaps and “beach” decor. Although our stay was late September, early October we were fortunate to have amazing weather. Every morning, coffee in hand, we sat in front of the picture window and were greeted with spectacular sunsets mountain views and wildlife including seals, otters, many types of waterfowl, eagles hunting on the water and feasting on fish on the beach. The beach is a bit rocky but our dogs loved exploring. We had only inteded to stay for a week but we just couldn’t bear to leave so added two more nights. The finale on our last evening was a full moon with a spectacular light show on the water. This is such a magical place which enriches the spirit. We highly recommend the “Beach House” if you are planning a trip to Campbell River either as a couples getaway or a family vacation.

We also must add Jamie and Joan are very accommodating hosts and we are especially gratefulfor the additional time they spent to return a purse we had left behind. Joan, maiing the empty purse, while Jamie etransferred the cash contents and dealt many days with his bank who managed to mess it up. Thank you Jamie and Joan for your extra efforts and for letting us stay in your family cottage . We hope to be able to come again.

We also recommend the Campbell River Museum, The Maritime Centre, The Native Art Gallery, Fisherman’s Wharf, Elk Falls and hiking trails (bear sighting possible, wear bells).
